About the Consultant - A Real Life Cinderella Story
The main difference between Nancy and the tale of Cinderella is that she didn't have a fairy godmother.
What she had were a few of good ideas. The year was 1984 in Portland ,
Oregon . Nancy at age 23 had just survived divorce and found herself a
single parent with a 2 year old child and dwindling finances. Times were
tough to say the least. "I couldn't pay my rent or much of anything
else for that matter. I went to the welfare office to receive temporary
assistance. Standing in line, I thought I'd rather scrub toilets than
ask for a dime from the system" she recalls. "And I did."
Gathering up what resources she had left, she had some flyers made, bought a few cleaning supplies and hit the ground running.
Thus began Mrs. Olson's Domestic Engineering in 1984, a full service,
well diversified company that provided services from vacant
home cleaning, new construction cleanup, occupied residential
cleaning, carpet and window cleaning. Personal Chefing was added to the
list of services as well.
She had grown a company that employed any where from 40-60 employees
and managed 3 locations from Beaverton , Oregon to Vancouver ,
Washington . Her company had become a huge success taking her position
as the leader in the industry and her company Mrs. Olson's Domestic
Engineering, Inc. a household word in the great Northwest.
If that wasn't enough to keep her busy, she received her general
contractors license and in 1997. Nancy leased a large building to house
the corporate office of her cleaning business and started the
construction remodel for her new entity Mrs. Olson's Gold Star Foods,
Inc a spin off of Mrs. Olson's Domestic Engineering, Inc. Employing a
staff of 7 chefs and 3 kitchen assistants she provided full service
catering, food product manufacturing, and a weekly subscription service.
Her popularity gained rapidly and received much recognition and
attention from the media.
Nancy sold both of her business in 1999 and went into early retirement. So she thought...
For the past 4 years she has shared her experience with other
entrepreneurs. She godmothered the “Small Business Makeover” section of
the Arizona Daily Star and has had over 30 articles published about or
for businesses. She counsels and advises many business owners in
marketing, sales, and operation systems, techniques in networking for
business, business design and development. Nancy is a key note speaker
for business meetings and events. Presently she owns of Biz Concepts 10,
a business design and development company.
Her mission is to provide you, the business owner with solid advice,
tools, and the resources necessary for your success in the cleaning
business.
(“And of course, live happily ever after”.)
